Better preparation can mean a better appointment

It's understandable if you have questions about how to lower your high blood pressure. It's also understandable if you forget what you wanted to discuss by the time you see your healthcare professional (HCP).

To ensure that you get the information you need, come to your appointment with a list of your top questions and concerns.

And try these simple success strategies:

Repeat back to your HCP what you think you heard. It's a good way to confirm the information.

Bring a recording device to appointments so that you can play back anything important that was said that might not have been clear the first time around. Be sure to ask your HCP if it's okay to record your conversation.

Follow your HCP's recommendations. Keep his or her office phone numbers handy so you can call back after your appointment if you have any questions

Remember—your HCP is your partner in lowering your blood pressure. He or she wants you to succeed. Following these tips should make for a better office visit for both of you.
